World record: Largest stadium-integrated photovoltaic plant expanded with Kyocera solar modules
In August 2007 the world’s largest stadium-integrated photovoltaic plant is to go into operation on the STADE DE SUISSE Wankdorf Bern.

Kyoto/Neuss - After the additional installation of 2,808 solar modules, the stadium now has a total of over 7,930 modules from the Japanese technology company Kyocera, providing an overall output of 1,346.774 kWp. The complete plant produces an annual energy yield of 1,134,045 kWh and saves on the emission of 630 tonnes of CO2 per annum.
After the expansion work, the stadium of the Swiss first league club BSC Young Boys Bern will have the world’s largest stadium-integrated photovoltaic plant on its roof. The complete plant, supplying 1,346.774 kWp, was planned by system supplier TRITEC and assembled on the STADE DE SUISSE Wankdorf Bern during a total construction period of 10 months. The annual energy yield of 1,134,045 kWh covers the electricity consumption of more than 350 four-person households.

Since the end of April 2007, a further 2,808 solar modules of the type KC175GHT-2 have been added to 5,122 Kyocera KC167GH-2 units from the first construction phase. The new modules alone, with an installed output of 491.4 kWp, create an additional annual energy yield of 434,045 kWh, thus saving 240 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year.
The STADE DE SUISSE Wankdorf Bern has been honoured for its integration of the photovoltaic plant with both the Swiss and European Solar Awards and is ideally equipped as a venue for the European football championships (UEFA EURO 2008™) in Switzerland and Austria.
